Things to know about me: I love history. At a young age, I was captivated by history, thanks to an exceptional teacher. I walked out of a particularly poignant class feeling as though I had donned a pair of glasses and the world had come into focus. Suddenly, I underststood that even the most absurd things about the world came about for a reason. Everything was shaped by the past. It has remained one of my greatest passions. We cannot understand the world we live, or who we are, if we do not understand the series of events that shaped the world and our lives. And that requires looking far and deep into the past. History helps me understand the present and my place in it.
